Media Manager Profiling Guide Version 7 : AM Screening
This page last changed on Aug 22, 2008 by johannaf.
AM (Amplitude Modulation) Screening Method Used primarily in screen-printing or flexography, this method of doing a screening where the frequency of the dots (the screen frequency, or the number of dots per inch) does not vary throughout the screen. Instead, the effect of tones is created by varying the size of the dots (hence "Amplitude Modulation").
Users typically define screening characteristics within the graphic application. Within ONYX you can create a media with specific lpi, frequency, angle and dot shape. This media can then be used for simulated proofing or for creating film positives/negatives.
Also known as Halftone Screen. Contrast with FM Screening. See Screen Angle. See {Moire]. |
