Cloning is the process of producing an exact copy of existing digital-image data, either to another image file or copying an area of an image within the same file. Within ONYX, the feature to "Clone Existing" uses an existing media profile properties and applying them to a different media. ![]() Why would I clone an existing media?There is often a need to evaluate a new media to determine if it is capable of providing adequate ink acceptance, color gamut, and output quality. In many cases media is purchased for which the expectation has been made that it matches the characteristics of a previously profiled media. Rather than creating a new profile for evaluating such situations it is desirable to test the qualities of existing profiles for the print quality of the new media. The Clone tool allows the user to select any or all of his current media profiles & modes and then print a sample image to the test media. By evaluating the output and deciding which of the previous profiles gives the best output the user can shorten the process to qualify a media for a particular purpose. To use this tool:
