A general system for assigning numbers to colors which can be describe and/or graphically plotted.


 
An example would be RGB color model, where each color is defined in terms of three numbers;the first amount of some (as yet undefined) red primary, the second a green primary, and the third a blue primary. Contrast with Color Space.
Other color models include: CMYK, RGB, LAB, HSV, and HLS.
