These are some general tips for getting the most out of your color sampling device.
- For Grand Format printers make sure to print full width of the printer. It also helps on very large printers to print several rows of the swatches for the color sampling device. When printing is finished compare the swatches and if a great disparity is found configure the program to average your readings and read swatches from multiple prints.
- Make sure to calibrate your device on a regular basis when profiling. If the program includes calibration for a specific swatch make sure the device has been turned on and has had time to aclimate.
- Make sure to keep your calibration reference clean. Keep calibration targets out of direct light and keep them clean. Always make sure your device is calibrated to the manufacturer's specifications.
- Make sure that you are measuring based on "Real World" dry times and printing conditions. If the media is not dry enough for profile readings, then it surely isn't dry enough to go onto a takeup roll.
- Take measurements with the media material on a "white" surface to avoid invalid measurements in case the color of your table shows though.
