New "FDRP Enhanced" Dot Pattern
- Improved FDRP Enhanced produces finer, smoother output in light areas, solid fills and edge details
- Greatly reduces leading edge effect over FDRP dot pattern
- New modes will have to be created and profiled to take advantage of this new dot pattern
- Primarily for "Fixed-dot-size" print modes
- Variable dot print modes might find a Stochastic dot pattern more preferable because of vardot placement and speed issues
- FDRP Enhanced takes about 2.5 times longer than Stochastic
Note: This does not replace the existing FDRP dot pattern, or change the quality of any existing profiles. This option that has other color characteristics, therefore it is a new dot pattern and not a modification of the existing FDRP dot pattern. When choosing a dot pattern to profile you need to consider speed vs. quality in a production environment.
To enable this option within Media Manger:
- Within Media Manager, click > Configure Devices> Configure Printer Capabilities.
- Select the "Dot Pattern" icon on the left-hand side
- Enable the checkbox for FDRP Enhanced - this will display the option during the profiling workflow.

| Summary |
Stochastic is the default dot pattern used for most output when you want good quality and the best speed. |
FDRP Diffusion is an optional dot pattern used for high quality output when you want better quality and speed is not as important. |
FDRP Enhanced is a new optional dot pattern used for the highest quality output when you want the best quality and speed is not an issue. |
| Conclusion |
Stochastic is the fastest dot pattern. |
FDRP Diffusion takes a little more than 1.5x longer to render than Stochastic. |
FDRP Enhanced takes a little more than 2.5x longer to render than Stochastic. |
