Profiling for CMYK

When profiling for 4 colors follow the instructions described in the Step by Step.

Here are some other things to consider: 

  • Use the Basic Ink Restrictions tab and print the default swatches. 
  • Remember that when you are profiling for CMYK the only control to assist with the apparent resolution is the available dot size(s). 
  • Use K sparingly in the light tones when building an ICC profile.  Configure the ICC options to begin using K above 50%.  This will help reduce the grainy "peppering" appearance that occurs when black is used too early in the GCR color exchange.  See ICC Build Options for more information.
