Media Manager Profiling Guide Version 7 : Using Quick Sets for Color Management
This page last changed on Aug 22, 2008 by johannaf.
Quick Set color management includes several presets for defining the Input Profile and Rendering Intents.
The preset for "All Profiles On" changed in version 7.1 to use the current Adobe defaults (North America General Purpose 2) input profiles. As all new QuickSets will use this setting, check any "Imported" Quick Sets if you are getting unexpected color output. This change is universal in all color management dialogs as seen within Quick Sets, Preflight, Layout, and Media Manager.
Current Adobe Defaults:
Use the drop-down list to select the correct Input Profile. The "correct" profile is always one you know is being used in your workflow. You can view the color settings within your graphic application to see the current working space, or when you save your files check the color management options before printing or saving the file. Proof - this option allows you to create a proof simulation for the final output device such as a press. The proofing workflow requires (3) profiles: the correct input (source file), the correct output (determined by the media/mode), and correct proofing simulation for the final output device. The proof option will take the color managed output as described in the file and any QuickSet option for color management and apply a second stage of color management so the final output simulates the proofing press. The proof profile is applied to the output image data after it has been color managed by the input and output. Rendering Intents Defaults:
Use the drop-down list to select any of the Presets or choose "Custom" if you want to select different input profiles and rendering intents. ONYX Quality Test - when printing this specific test file you must use the custom selection and change the input profile to "Default CMYK" and "Default RGB". These are reversed engineered versions of 3M MatchPrint and srgb and used when analyzing this image. Back to Profiling Fundamentals. |
